Reading is the pathway to possibilities. I am teaching English Language Arts to three different grade levels, with a wide range of reading levels within each grade level. I also have the privilege of teaching one honors grade level. I am requesting a wide range of popular literature and non fiction books for middle school grades, as well as organizing drawers and highlighters. The books that have been chosen are not only engaging, but they are also strategic for instructing the Common Core standards for 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Each student in my class receives an individualized learning plan, but in the classroom the students are grouped by similar areas of need. Thus, each group of students will have their own literary center organized by the organizing drawers. My goal is to create a well organized, text-rich learning environment, where students have everything they need at their disposal to fully engaged in text. Hopefully, fostering a healthy love for reading and writing.
