My students are 3 grades/levels of traditional band classes. This year, we have added guitar classes within the school day. Some live close by, while others travel specifically to come to our school, which is known for its' high achievements and great teachers. Our school is very crowded, and much has to be done within small spaces. Sharing resources and working around and within small these spaces is very common. Since I have been there, more emphasis has been placed on the arts as part of our students' lives. In my opinion, the arts are just as important as their major subjects. Many of my students seek out the joys of self expression that only music can bring them. In a nutshell, I love them. They are great kids.
