Many of my students are low sociol-economic and struggle to get money for school supplies. We have programs already in place to help these students in need through our Family Resource Center. Bijou is a Community School, but the school really does serve the entire community, especially our Latino student population and their families. The Dual-immersion program started seven years ago and has really changed Bijou, but all of our students need the opportunity to speak and practice the languages more... especially our Anglo students who are learning Spanish as a second language. Allowing the kids to tell their stories, and practice the language will provide memorable and advanced learning opportunities for the kids. I look forward to using the iPads with as many students as possible and use technology to meet the new common core state standards. It is going to be fun.
