I teach Science to kindergarten through fifth grade, around 800 kids a week. The kids come to me for hands on learning. My goal is to teach them a love of Science early through fun, hands on activities and experiments. Kindergarteners are naturally curious but that curiosity fades as they grow older. It is my job to keep them curious and excited about the world around them. I have not had the time to teach much about simple machines because they were not emphasized in the old State Standards. With the Next Generation Science Standards they are part of many concepts as they form the basis for engineering concepts.
