Our school houses over 400 students. They are a socioeconomically and racially diverse group of upper elementary students who come from all over Dekalb County. Our school strives to help every student make impressive academic gains in every subject area every year. We earned the position as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2012. We offer over 20 teacher-led after school academic clubs. I teach Humanities, an awesome cross-curricular, 2-hour, daily block of social studies, reading, writing, and grammar standards. My 38 fourth grade students are curious, excited about learning, and constantly asking to do additional research on our current projects. These classes of students love to work independently. They enjoy telling me more about a topic than I know. I often hear them discussing our current lessons and challenging other students' knowledge about our current projects and learning targets.
