My students come from transient families. We have over an 80% free/reduced lunch program. Our median income is $21,000. My middle school students don't think they have much chance of success. They have experienced an excessive teacher turn-over due to the challenges of rural schools and lack of funding. These students come to school for breakfast and lunch. Many may not eat at home. The families can not afford basic supplies, and scientific calculators really don't qualify for basic! The only chance my students have at success in life is an education that prepares them to succeed in our global economy. They may not think they have a future, but I want to convince them that they do. Will you help me equip our future leaders?
