My students live in one of the poorest and dangerous communities in East Oakland. Roughly 98% of my students are either Latino and/or African American and 33.7% are Newcomer Students, working hard to learn English. 90% of my students qualify for free or reduced price lunch. My students have a lot of needs, and although some of them are out of my control, I am overly committed to make sure they have a safe, comfortable and engaging science environment.
