The majority of the population in my school do not know anything other then the town they live in. Some have never been to the beach, some have never been out of Connecticut, and some don't know what it is like to go to a restaurant besides McDonald's. But in reality, they are still 5,6, and 7 year old kids who have the ability to soak in loads of information and begin to set goal for themselves to go places and do things when they get older. By bringing Social Studies and Science to them through colorful nonfiction pictures and words would benefit them greatly and expand their horizon tremendously.
