The use of a rug is a daily activity in my classroom, especially during circle time. My students come to the rug for guided lessons that include calendar skills, letter, number, color, and shape recognition, and storytime. Sitting on the rug allows me to closely interact with my students based on their individual learning needs. What becomes a problem is the fact that the rug we currently have is worn out from being used for over 16 years, and it is stained from frequent use. There are parts that are now coming unsewn, which is distracting for many of my students who have focusing issues and they miss important instruction. A new rug would give them the opportunity not only to sit on a clean surface and learn during circle time, but it would also allow us the opportunity to play various learning games with the alphabet, numbers, and colors that are on the rug. We could focus on learning our basic readiness skills! By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement!
