Students are often their own best teachers when allowed the time to be creative with various materials and a chance to collaborate with others.
I will be using manipulatives purchased through this fundraising effort (tinkertoys, magnets, building blocks, brain flakes and a spirograph) as part of morning tubs in my classroom. Students will be allowed some time each morning to explore all the manipulatives I'm purchasing here through Donors Choose, as well as others I already have in my classroom, to let their creativity shine through. They will not be constrained to what the teacher believes the supplies should be used for. All items requested can be manipulated in many ways. Students can learn to work together as well as independently to build many different structures and show creativity through the use of various art supplies.
Many of these resources students will not have had an opportunity to explore before. The best part is that students will be excited to explore these manipulatives and look forward to starting each day in our classroom.
