Many students from my classroom are coming from backgrounds of trauma, and all of them struggle with challenging behavior in the classroom. I can support my students when they are beginning to show big emotions through sensory breaks or cognitive distraction breaks. Most of the items in this project support meeting students through these different styles of breaks. Other items provide reinforcement when students meet their goals, and the last items provide games for students to practice positive social interaction. These items will provide students tangible ways to practice de-escalation techniques, foster a positive classroom community and reinforce their hard work and effort. Having novel items at the beginning of each school year to help my students re-engage in the classroom environment and be motivated to use their strategies to support their emotional regulation is critical. I'm beyond thankful for your support!
