The Elk Grove Film Club is made up of a diverse group of students from all walks of life, from freshman to seniors. They all share a love of film. As a club, we plan monthly film screenings for the community and offer a means by which students can create their own films, with the guidance and instruction of professionals to help them along. The EGFC will also be available to record school events and activities and provide equipment for others in the school to learn filmmaking and to make their own films. In the spring, we will host our first annual Deep Focus Film Festival, bringing student films from across the suburban Chicago area for a night of viewing and competition. We are a new club and are attempting to build from the ground up. One thing is for sure, the students are enthusiastic, creative and motivated. What we need is just a little help in getting started; a foundation upon which we hope to build a vibrant program of film study and media literacy.
