My students like independence. They like to check their reading level, and then choose the "just right" books for the week. The only moment they do not seem to enjoy is the sitting at their desks during the reading time. I am convinced that if I tweak this activity just by providing an alternative sitting arrangement, I will see even more growth in Reading. We will gather the group during circle time, and we will agree as a group where each and everyone will be reading using the individual seats. Seats are not only comfortable, but they limit personal space.
