I teach a 21st century skills class called "Creative Endeavors" that is a semester long exploration of making the most of your creative muscle (your brain) through hands on exploration of a variety of creative problems. It is a multi-age classroom of students in grades 6th - 8th and is an elective experience. In this course, each student has a ceramic experience, a digital photo or moviemaking problem, a hands - on "tinkering" problem, some drawing and painting experiences and at least one mixed media (found objects) creative problem. My budget to provide these experiences is quite small and I need to be very creative myself as a teacher to secure the materials we need (aka, I am a hoarder, scavenger and saver of what most would consider trash). Most of my students families are unable to contribute financially to our program.
