The high school students are juniors and seniors who are interested in becoming Early Childhood Educators. This program is a wonderful way for them to get hands-on experience and work directly with preschool children. The preschoolers benefit from having one on one attention from the interns as well as the lead teacher. This provides extra supervision and extra eyes, ears, and hands in helping our preschool children develop a love of learning and engage in rich learning experiences. The high school students plan lessons and get to see their plans carried out with the preschoolers. By the end of the year both sets of students have had an impact on each others lives, and form lasting bonds. Many high school students go on to college and study Early Childhood Education and return to the classroom as teachers! This is am amazing opportunity that creates a win-win situation for students preschool and teens!
