My students are wild, wacky, and wonderful. They have the kind of appropriate energy that makes learning and teaching an adventure. They are from diverse cultural backgrounds and in our room, they all make room for each other while trying to understand each others' differences. Any given day you will find my kids trying to listen to music through their earphones, talking about the upcoming weekend, or seeing who can make the class laugh the most. They are discovering who they are and deciding who they want to be. My hope is to add some flavor to their already colorful lives by showing them that art (in the form of literature) imitates life. They do need direction and they crave inspiration.
