My students are AWESOME! I have a total of 175 students that I get to see each week. I have two 6th grade classes that come to me everyday. They are sweet, ready to please, and excited about the new venue of middle school. I also have 3 sections of 7th graders. The groups are well mixed in regards to personalities, but one common theme is that they all love to smile and have fun. We are an urban school in the Bay Area, and so we have the full spectrum of race and socioeconomic individuals who make up our school. Our school is inclusive, so we also have a diverse mix of intellectual, emotional, and physical abilities within each class. We are a middle school, so our students are young, but beginning to think of themselves as adults, and try out what it means to be held accountable as an adult. They are taking risks, but also still wanting to be guided.
