Since I am launching this project in August I do not know much about this year's class besides what other teachers have told me. Which seems to be consistently been followed by, "Good luck, you're going to need it!". With a smile plastered on my face I nod knowingly, but do not retain a single word spoken. I don't like to form opinions on my students. Especially before I even get a chance to read aloud their name tag on the first day of school. It's just not fair. So since I don't know them yet, I will tell you what I hope for them this year. I hope for them to become intrinsically motivated to achieve their personal best. Not for mom, not for dad, not for me as their teacher, but for themselves. I hope for them to become inquisitive about the world around them and to push their thinking. I hope for them to be engaged and invested in their learning. I hope for them to know their own worth and to recognize the worth of others. As you can see, I have very high hopes.
