My school has a high level of students who are experiencing poverty or other childhood trauma. We also have other students who are very fortunate. There is a clear division between the haves and have-nots. At Welcome Back Night, many of the students were drawn to our classroom library, and eagerly pulled out books to look at. They hopped around the classroom with excitement, and settled in with their books on our bean bag chairs and pillows.
