I am a first year teacher of twenty bright, excited, social third grade students. We are a "crew" and are currently working on the character trait of "teamwork." While we are all on different learning levels, we are learning that we learn and succeed as a team. We are learning that we get more done as a team than as an individual. While we started with a lot of moans and groans - less than two full weeks in, we have already started to see the benefits of being a good team player and a great TEAM! Our classroom was a storage room last year. I am not only a 1st year teacher, but instead of walking into a room full of resources from a previous teacher, I walked into a blank slate. WOW! A blank slate, I can do anything I want - was my 1st thought. Then, oh my goodness!!! A BLANK slate, what am I going to do? Where am I going to start? Where are all my supplies?
