The majority of my students are being raised in single parent homes and in some cases, it may be a grandparent, aunt, uncle or sibling who has stepped up to try to fill the void left due to not having their parents around. No matter who they may be living with, in most cases, they are living below the poverty line. My students come from a high crime, low income neighborhood so they face many challenges in and outside of school. Despite the challenges they face, my goal is to give them a fun, unforgettable learning experience. My goal is to make sure that my classroom becomes a positive, safe place where my students are encouraged to reach their full potential. I cannot control what goes on in their lives outside of school but I can control their experience at school. By providing a positive, fun, creative and safe learning environment, it is my heart's desire that my students excel beyond outside circumstances.
