I work in an diverse urban immigrant community. This community has over fifty languages and the schools are growing at a very fast rate. My classroom is a mainstream second grade classroom in a K-8 school of about 900 students. About half of my second grade students are classified as English language learners. My school district as a whole has a high homeless population and a high percentage of low SES families. The families we work with are vibrant, diverse and they deserve the BEST !
