In our middle school reading intervention classes, struggling readers receive small group instruction tailored to close the gaps in their fundamental reading skills. Because these are remedial classes, students often miss out on opportunities to engage in other electives like technology or art. These tablets will allow our intervention students greater access to various online reading programs we use in class, which helps develop their literacy skills and technology skills at the same time! They will also help students stay motivated in their reading tasks, given that tablets allow for more interactive reading practice. Not to mention, our middle schoolers crave as much technology as possible!
