I teach English I to 9th grade students and they are amazing! It truly is a joy to teach them everyday! At the 9th grade level, students work through multigenre units that focus on both reading and writing skills. The practice of these skills help prepare them to be successful on the end of the year state assessment, more specifically known as the STAAR test, and in future classes and college programs. The specific school I work with qualifies as a Title I campus, and I work closely with students from low socioeconomic areas. Many of my students have not found the joy in reading, and appear to crave a book that will awaken the love for reading. I intend to give them a book that they can cling to, learn from, analyze, and absorb into their educational journey. I believe this can be done and I have a school that supports me.
