Our school is a Title 1 school serving a high needs population in East Oakland. The school mantra echoes the hope I have for my students: "College is for Certain." My students love to read and have lively engaging discussions. What is most engaging to them are things that happen in their lives and things they have experienced. I want students to know that what they learn and experience in the classroom can be applied to their own lives and circumstances.
