The use of these readers will give my students current events presented in a way that they can understand and get excited about reading. The Scholastic Storyworks Junior Magazine gives students a mixture of fiction and nonfiction pieces. My class gets excited when the book order comes in, and I have ordered a few new books. They will be able to all share in that excitement with a magazine of their very own to hold and read. The Scholastic Junior comes with many activities that will help students become further engaged to research certain topics. Scholastic gives great printables to accompany the magazine and many different ideas for lesson plans. The students not only benefit from engaging articles and stories but will also be able to build on their fluency and comprehension skills while learning about new topics.
