The GREEN finishes its first year as a total success! While teaching seniors AP Environmental Science, one of my more inspired students returned from a summer camp last year with plenty of goals and dreams for our school. He wanted to make a difference in the world and together, we established an environmental club, The GREEN, that we ran primarily through my APES class. While I expected the class to get involved in the program, I never dreamed that the idea of being "green" would spread through the school and result in a club of 50+ members who voluntarily gave up their time after school and on weekends to clean up local roads, sponsor a shoe drive for the needy and educate other students about the global public health crisis (worldwide AIDS epidemic). Students came together to help clean up the area around the school and community and I couldn't have been prouder of them.
