A Makers Lab in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) classroom creates an excitement in learning. Students learn by doing. Creating electronic circuitry that becomes a computer and then follow that up by programming or coding their machines. Heads down and hands on an engaged learner. My students are middle school 7th and 8th grade, low economic rural students who long for the opportunity to create with their hands. Just like kids in other rural areas, there are limited opportunities to see and/or participate. I hope to change some of that by introducing my kids to cutting edge activities while developing and engaged student. One that rediscovers their imagination becomes an avid problem solver and critical thinker, as well as a lifelong learner.
