I have the privilege of working with some of the most amazing kids. As a PPCD teacher I serve pr-k students ages 3-4 with all different types of disabilities, most of whom come from low income backgrounds. My kids usually have lots of energy and are excited to be at school but often struggle with channeling their energy in a positive manner. In our classroom we do a great deal of small group work and focus on fostering independence in our kids. Many of our students must work on basic things like using the restroom independently or following simple one step directions before they can move onto more complex academic work. A great deal of our students require lots of prompting and rely heavily on visuals and additional educational tools to be successful. Our class motto is practice makes perfect not progress and we try hard to celebrate even the smallest of victories in a big way!
