Our Pre-K students range in age from 3 to 5. We have a very diverse urban classroom with students from Mexico, Bangladesh, and various countries in Africa, as well as the United States. Our group of students this year are very enthusiastic, active learners. They love to learn though singing, dance, dramatization, and center based activities. We spent a great amount of time the first two months of school focusing on classroom rules, routines, and use of materials. Therefore, by November most of our students function pretty independently in the classroom. Students create collages and art projects by themselves. They also create letters in the Writing Center, as well as spell names with magnets in the Alphabet Center. We try to rotate materials in the classroom with each monthly unit to keep things fresh and keep students interested.
