My students are eager, inquisitive learners with many questions about society and life. They are bright, but due to inconsistencies in teaching and content (my kids went through 4 science teachers last year), they are behind in terms of using science to explore the world. My kids have amazing aspirations-- to become doctors, chemists, teachers, lawyers, dancers, actors, and so on-- but in order for them to reach their ultimate goals, strong and consistent schooling is must. My kids mostly come from the rougher neighborhoods in North Minneapolis. My school has a focus on performing arts, and hosts a very strong Drill and Dance team. My school has struggled with academics in the past-- a reality we are working tirelessly to change. Although their skills vary wildly within the classroom, my kids are eager to learn and hungry for content.
