I have chosen Scholastic's Storyworks magazine for my classroom. They are 32 page, full color magazines, designed to challenge all student and expose them to various genres of literature and nonfiction. My students are at various reading levels and these magazines will provide print and online support for all levels of readers in my class. These magazines will supplement our reading program and help my students master the fifth grade reading and writing standards. Students use reading strategies that encourage them to make notations in the test to help with comprehension. This can be done easily with Storyworks magazines. These magazines can also be used in class and at home for further practice of standards, helping to create a positive school- home connection. After we are finished using them, they can be added to home libraries for the family to enjoy.
