My 7th grade students are awesome, diverse learners! They change every day emotionally, physically, and mentally. Striving to be seen as adults that can handle independence but needing the care and support of teachers and their peers to overcome obstacles that may arise on any given day and for any given reason. PPMS is a middle school striving to ensure the growth mindset of our young teens while personalizing their learning to meet the needs of each individual learner. Writer's and Reader's in Workshop are given opportunities from a multitude of genres while meeting certain targets laid out for them pertaining to the standards. This year, my role is one of coach and mentor 'ping-ponging' my way around the room to observe and discuss with my creative minions all of their hard work. And, to empower themselves to push to be the best ELA student at that particular moment. Data would agree, the kids would agree, and their teacher would agree, it's working!
