Imagine students walking through the hallway with their noses in their books--and the main problem we have is that they run into the person in front of them. Then, upon arriving back at the classroom, students go crazy because the third book in their favorite series has arrived and is on display! The students in my school are bibliomaniacs! I cannot keep up with their voracious reading. They consume books like other students consume candy. Our school is full of students in grades 4-8 who have a constant dialog about favorite authors, new books coming out, and the latest movies based on their favorite books. We even have a book blog created and maintained by students. Because our school is located in a large city within a high-poverty area and has a limited overall budget, students have not had the benefit of a school library until now. Thanks to the hard work of students, staff, and parents, we have a physical space with new furniture! Now we need to to fill the bookshelves.
