I don't think it's overstated to say that STEM education is vital to the future of our children. I teach 6th grade in a middle class neighborhood where the parents are very supportive of education but have busy lives like most of us. My students are especially bright, eager, and energetic learners who do best when they can touch and manipulate the classroom materials. They especially love hands-on investigations and engineering solutions to problems that I pose.
