I currently teach 8th grade students from an urban middle school. These students are provided with exceptional 21st century technology, but still struggle in grade-level literacy skills like reading comprehension and vocabulary development in every day classroom lessons as well as the state assessments. This middle school is a relatively small neighborhood school with about 500 students enrolled. They are enthusiastic learners who really want to master their reading skills that will help them be successful in all their content areas as well as in every day life experiences.
