On any given day, you can walk into my classroom and find a young Artist from the age of preschool through fifth grade busy at work. You can witness little hands creating some masterpiece of their own. You may hear Spanish and English being spoken as almost all of my students are of Latino descent. Our school takes the Arts seriously and recognizes their role in the molding of young minds. This is crucial to a community of learners who are coming from extreme poverty as 100% of them receive free lunch. These numbers show you the economical challenges in the neighborhood. Although very poor, my families take education seriously and are so proud to send their children to a school that values the Arts. The whole community looks forward to events where they can participate in the Arts with their children. The young Artists are so very proud to display their work.
