It takes a lot to teach children with disabilities, but at the same time it is one of the most rewarding jobs. My students surprise me everyday, and each day is a new adventure. I teach severe and profound special education students in a self-contained classroom. They are joy to teach, and it is wonderful to watch them finally learn and retain a skill even if is something small like throwing away their trash. As a teacher, you get excited about the little things. My students are high school students with a wide range of multiple disabilities, and because of that my students require a lot of one-on-one instruction.
