AVID activities in the classroom emphasis a college going culture. Those activities include researching colleges, improving writing skills, and working collaboratively as a group. The dry erase boards will be used daily for tutorials. Tutorials provide needed help from fellow students in core subject areas and help with their points on confusion. Tutorials are conducted with a trained tutor present and foster collaboration needed for their future careers. Binders are a HUGE component to AVID; teaching organizational and planning skills to not only prepare for college but also their careers. Most of my students will not be able to afford these and I would like to provide them the needed materials to begin the school year right!!
