The school that I am teaching at is over 80% Hispanic and 17% Asian. I would describe the students as eager to learn as long as there is a teacher who is willing to show them a passion for the subject. Unfortunately, many of my students are not self driven, which is where my job can be difficult. My school is a Title 1 school with over 80% of the students receiving free or reduced price lunch. But this fact does not stop students from being life long learners. Many of them are determined to attend college and be successful in the future. The students need someone to show them: -passion - the will to do well - that academic success is well within their reach. The school is not a big school, with a population of about 2,000, there is a group of exceptional students that their peers look up to academically. They are the role models that encourage other students to succeed and follow in their foot steps. They demonstrate that it can be challenging, but doable.
