My cute little second grade kiddos amaze me every day. They have struggles that I have never had to experience. Being a Title I school, I have many students that don't have the necessities like enough food or decent clothes to wear. Many of their parents can't speak English or read. Because of this, I know that they need all of the help that I can give them and the best place to start is to make sure they can read when they leave me in June. So many of these kiddos do not have access to books at home and they love and appreciate each time I buy a new book for our classroom library. I have students that can barely make their letter sounds and I have students who read at the fifth grade level. I need to reach each of these students which is why I differentiate my lessons each day through small groups at my teacher table.
