My first grade class is full of energetic, eager to learn students. Even though they may not have much at home or a space of their own, I want my first grade classroom to be comfortable, inviting, and fun. I want my students to have every opportunity to become high academic scholars. I believe that when students feel safe and comfortable in a classroom and have equal resources at their fingertips, they will thrive. My students are Latino, African American, and Asian. They are loving, curious, creative, and smart. They have the potential to be great leaders, artists, mathematicians, dancers, singers, doctors, lawyers, teachers, musicians, chiefs, or astronauts! It all begins in the classroom by opening the doors of their minds to all the possibilities. Our elementary school encourages college. Every Friday all the teachers, staff, and students wear our college t-shirts. Students are proud to showcase their shirts and where they want to and will go to college.
