My biggest challenge is meeting the needs of a very diverse group of students. My students' abilities range from very high performing to very low on the achievement spectrum with some in between. I have to differentiate my lessons in both reading and math. I do guided reading lessons in small groups for each level. I also meet with students for enrichment and intervention in math. It is the expectation of my school that all students gain 1.05 years growth each year regardless of where they were when they begin the year. We are also expected to raise our low children to grade level within three years. This is very difficult to do when you don't have the appropriate books you need or the technology to access text on line. My students are also deficient in technology skills that are now required for state testing.
