My students come from very diverse backgrounds, many of which involve being homeless or in a single parent household. Despite their hardships however, they come to choir with an eagerness to share new experiences with their friends. It often appears that they are learning without their knowledge because of the lesson structure. I provide ample opportunities for them to teach each other and to get out of their seats. They are smart, hard working, passionate kids who have dealt with some really difficult things but they come back everyday with an eagerness to learn something new.
