I teach at a Title I school, and many of our students receive free and reduced-price lunches and come from low economic families. Many of these students don't have many resources at home. School is the only place they see books, computers, and learn organizational skills. In addition, we have a diverse population of students and a dedicated staff which brings a richness to the learning environment for all our students. My class is a wonderful group of 2nd graders that love to learn and arrive each day excited for school. They are a diverse group of LEP, GT, and Intervention learners. My students arrive with different levels of knowledge and ability. My goal is to close that gap because many have not had meaningful opportunities to explore concepts in a real world environment. But no matter what, they are hard workers and end the school year with a wealth of knowledge and a solid foundation in everyday subjects.
