My students are remarkable. Almost all of my students are from low-income families. 90% are of Asian descent, and 10% are of African descent. Our school is in the downtown district of Oakland. Most of their parents do not speak English and cannot help their children with homework and buying basic school supplies. In spite of this, twelve of my thirty six students earned perfect scores on STAR Tests. In addition, they have worked hard to achieve a 3.88 classroom average in almost every subject. They are self-disciplined and model students. Our school does not have a working, well-equipped science lab. The furniture, and equipment are woefully outdated. These hard working, well-mannered, goal-oriented students deserve the best education possible. I have no doubt they will be future leaders of their communities and country.
