My students are 10 and 11 years old and are at the point of connecting their previous experience with current national and international events. They are eager to know what is going on around them outside of their neighborhood and state. Eager minds are on display every day in my classroom. Those minds belong to students who want to learn about different places and events. Our school provides many quality opportunities for students to advance and learn through clubs and service projects. Fourteen languages are spoken at our school, and my students interact with these languages everyday. Learning about international cultures and issues will enhance their worldly experience. The "TIME for Kids" is now! Technology, health care, financial literacy, and other important issues of the day are being debated today that will impact my students' later lives. They deserve to be cognizant of these issues so they can voice opinions on them to others.
