In our Title 1 school, this will be the first opportunity for some of these students to be able build and tinker and create things that they wouldn't normally be able to create at home. We understand that not all students learn in the same way and until now, there has not been a place for our mathematical and science minds to explore and feel scholastically successful. That is why our school has incorporated a STEAM room into our rotational schedule. We are looking to build curious and inquisitive minds that will be able to solve every day, real world problems in the future. We want the students to come up with an original idea in the classroom and be able to create it in our STEAM Lab. The STEAM lab will of course, be used by all students K-5, not just our mathematicians and scientists. They will be able to use engineering supplies, robotics supplies, Makey Makeys and Hexbugs among other things like the Lego Wedo Kit. We are hoping that with the help of the donors, and with the items we have asked to be donated to our school, every single student will be able to connect to science and math in some way.
