My school is a fabulous school within a large urban school district. Most of my students come from a low socioeconomic status, so they may not have had the best opportunities to experience "real" science. I teach two third grade classes per day, with a total of 45 students that come through my door. They are a very diverse group of students, representing many races and ethnicities, though they are mostly of Hispanic decent. Above all, they are energetic and eager to learn and ready for someone to make them say, "I WANT to go to school. I WANT to learn." My students want attention, crave emotional connections with adults, strive for independence and success and seem to need real world examples. I want to be the person who meets all of their needs.
