Accessing books about and by Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and LGBTQ+ folks can be difficult. As a high school History and Reading teacher, I see the many barriers; barriers that have increased in the time of Covid, that prohibit our students from reading quality books by diverse authors. The books that we are requesting will offer windows and mirrors to our students. Students reading these books will help increase their reading levels and learn about the beautiful and diverse world we live in. These books will allow students to still have access and opportunities to delve into reading, despite the many barriers that prevent students from reading them. Students will have the option of picking books up from school or having it sent to them. Students can return the books to school when they have finished it. Thank you for your support!
